Childcare


Breastfeeding Basics Class

This class is designed to familiarize moms with the benefits of breastfeeding a baby. Instruction on breastfeeding techniques and how to prevent common breastfeeding problems will be discussed. All classes are available in Spanish and English.

Early Prenatal Care

This class will help woman in early pregnancy (1-4 months) understand what to expect throughout the pregnancy, including what happens at the office visits, lab tests, ultrasounds, nutrition, weight gain, importance of compliance in the prenatal period, and signs and symptoms that should be reported to their provider.

Mommies on the Go

Participants meet other new moms who share their parenting stories. Participants also learn about educational resources in Chicago.

New Born Care

This class is designed for expectant parents, new parents or family members that will be caring for the new born. Normal newborn appearance, feeding, diapering, sleep patterns, cord care, dressing, bathing and newborn safety are some of the topics that will be covered.

Prenatal Classes

These classes will help expectant parents prepare for the birth of their newborn. All classes are available in Spanish and English.

Expectant parents will see The Family Birthplace private suites, well-baby nursery and more. In addition, questions or concerns about pregnancy will be answered. Free.

Diabetes and Pregnancy

Women who attend this program will learn about special health concerns such as keeping blood sugar levels in good control, managing medications and meal plans as well as exercising regularly.

Participants in this class receive an overview on diabetes care, including treatment options, diet and exercise, daily care and long-term effects.

This program includes low-impact aerobics and mild stretching and bending exercises led by a certified aerobics instructor. Participants can modify the routines depending on their skill level. Free.

Outpatient Nutrition Counseling

Individual counseling on various nutrition diagnosis such as weight loss, high cholesterol, low fat diet, cardiac diet, diabetes, pediatric to geriatrics. Payment is expected at time of service. Fee: $45. Call: 312-770-2275 for appointment.


Ongoing Programs


Health Educators On-Call

If you would like trained, knowledgeable health care professionals to host a class on a specific health topic for members of your community organization or group, look no further. Health educators can speak about a wide variety of topics, ranging from diabetes and asthma to exercise and nutrition.
